How the fees are worked out

Listing fee $0.20 per item sold. Transaction fee 6.5% of item price plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge. Payment processing 3% + $0.25 on the full order total including tax (US Etsy Payments). Offsite Ads 15% or 12% of the order total, capped at $100, only on sales Etsy attributes to an ad. Currency conversion 2.5% when your listing and bank currencies differ. Sellers outside the US pay different processing rates and, in the UK and EU, a regulatory operating fee and VAT on fees — this calculator is for US shops.

For a single digital item with no shipping, that works out to: you keep 90.5% of the price, minus $0.45. A $2.99 download keeps $2.26; a $9.99 download keeps $8.59.
